BANKS & LLOYD ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THEY HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY HMRC AS AN AUTHORISED ECONOMIC OPERATOR (AEO)

In 2005/6, The European Community introduced the concept of creating secure and financially stable Authorised Economic Operators (AEO). The aim of AEO accreditation is primarily to improve the security and stability of the international supply chain.
Businesses involved in the International Supply Chain (Exporters, Importers, Banks, Forwarding Agents, Logistics Providers etc.,) may apply and, if they meet the demanding criteria, be authorised for the status of AEO. This informs all customs authorities of the AEO's International accreditation, and can result in reduced interventions and delay when goods are imported to or exported from the European Community.
The introduction of AEO status is the EU's response to the need to secure International supply chains and the introduction of Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) in the USA.
BANKS AND LLOYD saw this as an opportunity to again establish its credentials as one of the foremost Forwarding Agents in the UK. From the end of 2007, we began to create the necessary framework to enable us to comply with the intensive investigations necessary to meet these standards.
BANKS AND LLOYD have secured all three levels of accreditation, Security, Safety, and Customs Simplifications.
The initial application and comprehensive supporting documentation required was followed by several in depth interviews and visits by HMRC. They examined our internal procedures and investigated employment practices, physical and computer security, staffing, customs expertise and financial solvency.
